Swahlee

Swahlee is an ethical fashion brand based out of Guwahati, Assam. The brand started out of a desire to provide safe, sustainable jobs for the women in the region. While working in community development, founder Andrea Stokes realised the potential for businesses to drive social change — how upskilling and safe employment can provide stable incomes to women, leaving them less vulnerable to exploitation and abuse.

Swahlee crafts timeless designs, steeped in tradition using natural handloom fabric. As an organisation that cares deeply for both their customers and employees, we wanted to help the team behind Swahlee, in telling their journey of building this beautiful venture and their work with local artisans and craftspeople.
